Aksh Optic Fibre planning to launch its fibre-to-home services in the next few months.
Chetan Choudhary, chief operating officer, said, "While everyone is talking about broadband services this is for the first time in India that someone is offering a last mile solution to take optic fibre cable right up to the doorstep which will can bring a host of entertainment and communication services."
The company is targeting builders of large colonies and basic service operators to promote its solutions. The system developed by Aksh allows customers to get digital quality video, dedicated optic fibre instead of copper cables, Bluetooth-enabled wireless technology for laptops, two telephone connections, video on demand and Internet access through just one cable and a single operator.
"For a customer it means that he will have just one single window for all his communications needs." said Choudhary.
For the rural sector, Aksh is working with the state government to offer e-governance and telephony services under the brand name 'gramdoot'.
As part of the programme, Aksh will set up a server at the district level which will be connected to a number of villages. at each of these a kiosk will be set up equipped with the requisite hardware, software and optic fibre connectivity to provide e-governance, telephony, cable TV, education, tele-medicine and Internet application. The kiosks will provide villagers not only access to information on government schemes but also help them lodge complaints with the government.
