Chemicals maker Alkyl Amines Chemicals is planning to set up a methylamine manufacturing facility at Dahej in Gujarat with an estimated investment of Rs 250 crore.
"We are adding capacity every year based on our own R&D technology. We are now setting up a 100 tonne per day methylamine manufacturing facility at Dahej in Gujarat. The project cost is estimated at Rs 250 crore," Alkyl Amines Chairman and Managing Director Yogesh Kothari said here.
The company has acquired the land in Dahej and project is expected to commence production within next three years, he said.
Alkyl Amines which currently manufactures amines, amine derivatives, speciality chemicals is planning expansion by setting up the unit to cater to the needs of the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, rubber chemicals and paints and dye industry. The company has two manufacturing sites, one at Patalganga and another at Kurkumbh. It had also set up R&D Centre at Pune equipped with advanced equipment and analytical instruments.
Kothari said the in-house R&D department has been consistently developing quality products and is also striving for achieving cost efficiencies.
On chemical industry scenario, Kothari said the Indian chemicals industry was estimated at USD 100 billion and is growing at a rate of 10 per cent per annum. "Global recession has not hit the industry due to our own large domestic market," he added.
Kothari, who is the president of Indian Chemical Council (ICC), the apex body of the chemical industry in India, said that a global conference on 'Responsible Care', a global initiative on industrial safety was held recently.
Through Responsible Care, ICC helps domestic chemical industry improve its performance by being open and transparent with regulatory authorities and general public.
