With the festive season around the corner, Amazon announced that it had invested in seven new fulfillment centres across the country. The new warehouses will be in Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Nagpur, Gurgaon, Pune and Mumbai.

This addition takes the number of warehouses in the country up to 20 across 10 states. Sources said that this infrastructure upgrade is part of the $2 billion investment announced by Jeff Bezos last year.

"This investment will enable thousands of sellers to take advantage of Amazon's services and grow exponentially during the country's biggest shopping season and enable us to offer our guaranteed fast delivery promises to more customers," said Akhil Saxena, Director, Operations, Amazon India.

Amazon Fulfilment Centres are warehouses where online retailers who use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) services, stock their inventory. In June, Amazon had opened its largest warehouse in India in Telangana.
