Andhra Sugars has reported a marginal fall of 4 per cent in net profit at Rs 16.26 crore for the quarter ended September 30 compared with Rs 17 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
 
The company's total income, however, grew 24 per cent to Rs 157.34 crore during the quarter from Rs 127 crore in the corresponding previous quarter.
 
Its basic and diluted earnings per share for the quarter stood at Rs 6 vis-a-vis Rs 6.37 in the same period of 2005-06. Net profit for the quarter declined on the back of fall in selling prices of caustic soda and chlorine, the company stated in a press release.
