The Andhra Pradesh Paper Mills Limited (APPM), a group company of the US-based International Paper, will start commercial manufacturing of HP branded premium copier paper using Colorlok technology from next month.

Colorlok technology, according to the company, gives exceptional print quality with more vivid colours, bolder blacks and faster drying for less smears.

International Paper (IP) had recently installed a new sheeter machine at the APPM in Rajahmundry at a cost of Rs 100 crore that allows the company to manufacture the premium copier paper. It has an exclusive global partnership with HP to manufacture their copier range since 1996.

The company stated in a press release here on Thursday that the new capabilities in India was targeted at gaining a significant share in the domestic premium copier market. In due course of time, these products will also be exported.

“This new product line will strengthen IP’s position in the high potential Indian paper market and is another step in expanding our market presence in India,” APPM managing director and chief executive officer, Rampraveen Swaminathan, said.

Currently, International Paper manufactures and markets nearly 300,000 tonnes of HP copier paper annually in over 52 countries through its worldwide production capabilities.
