Apollo Hospitals has launched teleradiology services, a remote consulting and diagnostic facility in its Chennai hospital. The technology intervention, which was inaugurated by former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam, would help patients and diagnostic centres in remote locations to access quality radiologists for opinion-based services and treatment recommendations.

Apollo said the service would play a vital role in reducing patient waiting time for diagnosis, commencement of treatment and cost.

"Teleradiology as a technology can transform rural healthcare delivery by empowering both patients and doctors alike. While rural practitioners can gain access to specialist health services and benefit from interactions with consultants and specialists, patients can receive health information and advice from health professionals from the convenience of their homes," said Prathap C Reddy, chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group.
