The New Delhi-based start-up, Appin Security Group has set up its first research and development (R&D) facility dedicated to information security, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi.

Established at the technology business incubator in IIT-Delhi, under the aegis of Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FIIT), the centre will provide automated solutions for penetration testing, patching and securing confidentiality & integrity of the data stored in computers and communicated over networks.

"Most organisations offer 15-20 per cent automation in security or penetration testing processes, whereas we have already automated the process to about 75 per cent," said Rajat Khare, director, Appin Security Group.

"The R&D facility will provide excellent security solutions to the private and government sectors. It will help them secure their organisations, information and people against data thefts, attacks and frauds," said S K Gupta, head, information security research group, IIT-Delhi.

Appin Security has worked with companies including BSNL, American Express, Infosys and Yatra.com to create IT security solutions.

Appin is also exploring partnerships for rolling out services in various sectors, where it would be the technical back-end and the partner will manage the front-end. The company is in talks with net4india.com to provide services to more than 75,000 websites.

The group aims to achieve 100 per cent automation very soon. A firm opting for security testing needs to fill a simple form.

"The cost incurred by the company for the service will be nearly one-sixth of the current charges. Besides, the time taken for the test will also be reduced substantially after complete automation is achieved," said Khare.

Discliamer: Rajat Khare claims he is no longer associated with Appin Security Group, and that he disassociated himself from the group in 2013.
