Ashok Leyland posts Rs 334-cr net profit

Total income climbs 36% to Rs 13,562 cr in 2014-15

Commercial vehicle major Ashok Leyland's standalone net profit in 2014-15 rose to Rs 335 crore from Rs 29 crore in the prior year. Total income climbed 36 per cent to Rs 13,562 crore in 2014-15 from Rs 9,943 crore in 2013-14. The company's share of the medium and heavy commercial vehicle market increased to 29 per cent during 2014-15 from 26 per cent in 2013-14.

Exports grew 32 per cent by volume and the company maintained its leadership in Sri Lanka, the Middle East and Africa. While the company officials were not available for comment, Ashok Leyland's 2014-15 annual report showed that Ashok Leyland Nissan Vehicles loss after taxation was Rs 791 crore in 2014-15 as compared to Rs 174.5 crore, a year ago. Turnover has dropped to Rs 1,030 crore in 2014-15 from Rs 1,052 crore in 2013-14.

Ashok Leyland holds 51 per cent stake in the company.
