The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) will organized a summit titled “Advantage Chhattisgarh—the Land of Opportunities” here in Raipur on Monday.
The government of Chhattisgarh will be a partner in the event that is likely to see a participation of more than 300 potentials investors, ASSOCHAM officials have said. They added that memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth about Rs 7,000 crore will be signed during the event.
The officials said many big companies would be inking MoU with the state government. They however did not reveal the names of the companies and the sectors in which investment would come.
The summit will be inaugurated by chief minister Raman Singh on Monday morning at 10 am. State’s minister for industry Dayaldas Baghel, agriculture minister Chandrashekhar Sahu, chairman of ASSOCHAM’s committee on computers and electronics Anirudh Dhoot and National secretary general D S Rawat will be present on the occasion.
“The state has a huge potential in the logistics sector and we expect that the state government will unveil its policy in tomorrow’s submit to draw investment in the sector,” Dhoot told reporters on Sunday afternoon.
Good governance and congenial industrial atmosphere has made Chhattisgarh as a lucrative investment hub, he added.
Dhoot said the state also had scope in iron-ore beneficiation, education, tourism, amusement parts, information technology, IT enable services and other small units.
ASSOCHAM national general secretary DS Rawat said the state needed to focus on potential industries apart from core industries. “For faster economic development, Chhattisgarh needs to come up with industrial clusters,” he added.
