Two-wheeler maker, Bajaj Auto Limited, is looking at building up the production capacity of its latest 150-cc commute bike ‘V’ from the current 20,000 units per month to 50,000 at its Waluj (Aurangabad) and Pantnagar (Uttarakhand) plants in the next four months, said its president (motorcycle business) Eric Vas.

Announcing the launch of ‘V’, which contains metal from India’s first aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, in Hyderabad on Thursday, Vas said the new commute bike had drawn unprecedented interest and enquiries not just from India but also from abroad.

"We export to 45 countries, and most of them expressed interest in ‘V’. We are contemplating exporting it to Latin America, some of the African and southeast Asian countries from the next financial year," he said.

Bajaj Auto opened its booking window for ‘V’, the sixth brand from its stable, on Thursday. The company expects 10,000 bookings to come in for the bike till March 20, which would be delivered on March 23, the Martyrs’ Day.

Stating that the company would continue to manufacture ‘V’ even after it runs out of the metal from Vikrant, Vas said the logo on the fuel tank cap, however, would vanish.
