Bajoria homemakers to foray into north Indian mkt with modular kitchens

Having already marked its presence in eastern India with customized modular kitchen cabinets, Kolkata-based Bajoria Homemakers (P) Ltd, has plans to target Northern Indian market aggressively. The company has plans to set up unit in Northern India and intends to invest Rs. 10-15 crore in the proposed project which is likely to be operational next year.

Speaking to Business Standard, Bajoria Homemakers (P) Ltd, Director, Namit Bajoria said, "Currently, we have manufacturing facility in eastern India with an installed capacity of 1000 units of modular kitchen per month. Presently we are offering customized modular kitchen i.e. according to the customer needs to Eastern India market. In order to target the Northern India market which hold vast potential, we have plans to set up unit in Northern India. We intend to invest Rs. 10-15 crore in the proposed unit and having an initial installed capacity of 500 units per month. With this unit we would be able to tap Punjab, Chandigarh and Haryana market."

Briefing on modular kitchen market,he added, ‘ The total market size is about Rs 1500 crore per annum or 5 lakh units of modular kitchen per annum. So, there is immense potential for the organized players." On being asked, whether the company has plans to tie up with builders or real estate players, he mentioned, " Not exactly. We manufacture modular kitchen, considering customer needs and accordingly customized it. So every customer get unique concept and design which is otherwise limited having tie up with real estate players."

It is worth mentioning that the parent company Bajoria Appliances (P) Ltd., is one of the leading manufacturer of Kutchina brand kitchen chimneys. The company has overall market share of 20-22 per cent pan India and 80 per cent market share in eastern India. Being pioneer in kitchen chimneys, Kutchina is the first to have introduced auto clean technology, making contemporary Indian cooking a lifestyle experience. The company has state of the art R & D centre and he claims that Kutchina is the only Indian company who enhance its product features to suit the needs of the Indian customers. With the huge success of kitchen chimneys, the company has recently forayed into kitchen interiors with the launch of modular kitchen cabinets.

Commenting on diversification plan, he added, " We are contemplating to manufacture entire range of Kitchen appliances likes Gas Stoves, Kitchen Hobs, RO, Induction stoves in India having foreign collaboration under our parent company Bajoria Appliances Ltd. The project cost would attract an investment of Rs. 25-30 crore."
