Private insurer Bharti AXA General Insurance today announced opening of its office in Rajkot with an objective of expanding business in Gujarat.

"The gross written premium of Bharti AXA General Insurance has grown 60% at Rs 892 crore in FY 12, since its inception four years ago which is a remarkable achievement for us," Bharti AXA General Insurance MD and CEO Amaranth Ananthanarayanan told reporters.

The company has sold over 5,96,376 policies and has settled 97,921 claims in the West Zone since its inception, he said.

"West Zone is a key market for us and Vadodara being the third largest city of the state is very significant to us," Ananthanarayanan said.

Vadodara alone has generated business of Rs 8.42 crore in the calendar year 2011 and we plan to double it in calendar year 2012," he added.

Ananthanarayanan said Bharti AXA General Insurance has tied up with over 14 garages in the city to offer cashless facilities for customers having purchased motor insurance, and has also entered into an agreement with 89 hospitals in the city.

The company will focus on increasing partner prospects along with generating large job opportunities in the region this year, he added.
