Power equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) today said that its industry sector business grew at a record 40 per cent in 2009-10.
Of the total order booking of Rs 59,031 crore in 2009-10, the industry business segment contributed Rs 14,366 crore, a company statement said.
In the last fiscal, BHEL received several major orders, including a Rs 3,348-crore order from Indian Oil for its co-generation power plant in Orissa and repeat orders from Hindalco for 900 MW BTG package.
In the transportation segment, BHEL bagged the single largest order valued at Rs 990 crore for 150 electric locomotives from Indian Railways.
Other significant orders were from JSPL, Sterlite, PowerGrid, MRPL, HPCL among others, the statement said.
BHEL targets to achieve Rs 50,000 crore turnover by 2011-12.
