CDC Global Services eyes BPO acquisitions in India

CDC Global Services, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CDC Corporation and a provider of IT and IT-enabled services and consulting is looking at organic growth and acquisitions in India under the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) umbrella, a top company official said. 

"We are looking at acquisitions in India under the BPO umbrella. We are talking to several BPO companies in the range of $15-20 million for acquisitions," CDC Global Services Managing Director, Rajan N Vaz, told reporters here today.     

The company is also looking at organic growth in India through expansion.     

"We are expanding our business process outsourcing operations during the third quarter that includes the opening of two new additional offices located in Mumbai and Pune and the addition of 450 more seats," Vaz said, adding, "we have a very healthy pipeline of projects. 

CDC Global Services also announced that it has signed a letter of intent to use the hosted solutions of Tata Communications, a global communications provider, under a technology partnership.     

This partnership is a part of the company's expansion of its BPO operations. As part of the partnership, CDC Global expects to use Tata's Instacc platform for its expanding contact certre business activities,CDC Global Services-India's Managing Director, Shrikant Parab, said.

CDC Global Services started its BPO operations in the first quarter of 2009 with 50 agents working at two offices located in Mumbai and Pune, where CDC Global Services already was operating its IT outsourcing operations. With this BPO expansion, there are now 500 agents working in two offices in Mumbai and three offices in Pune.     

With the addition of ten new BPO contracts to date in the third quarter and a robust sales pipeline, CDC Global Services is ramping up its resources and expects to have a total of more than 2,000 agents working in its India BPO operations by the end of this year.     

CDC Global Services also plans future expansion in its BPO operations that may include China, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and other emerging markets in Africa, Vaz said. 

The company offers IT outsourcing services in India and China that includes onsite and remote IT support desk, IT infrastructure planning, offshore application development, network management and aplication maintenance and support.
