CEED Academy joins hands with COEP to upgrade students job skills

The first batch in Western India will undergo skills training in association with Global Talent Track

Cisco Education Enabled Development (CEED) Academy an initiative to upgrade youths' job skills to increase their employability has joined hands with College of Engineering, Pune (COEP).

The first batch in Western India comprising 200 students will undergo skills training in association with Global Talent Track. Training programs by CEED Academy are currently underway in Sirsi and Kanchipuram, and this initiative will help upgrade skills of close to 5,000 students by the end of this year. Cisco is running such programmes in states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Bihar even for non-engineering students.

The first batch in western India comprising 200 students will undergo skills training in association with Global Talent Track at College of Engineering, Pune.

Under this, Cisco is providing COEP with CEED boxes, high end hardware and a platform that connects with Cisco's cloud. The boxes would be used to provide high end training in skill development across diverse sectors for students at COEP. The technology would be used to offer NASSCOM's sector skills council certification under the Standard Training Assessment and Reward (STAR) scheme of National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC).

"According to estimates, India will have the largest youth population in the world, with 423 million jobseekers by 2030. So skills development must not only be the focus area for economic growth but also be the main focus to put this country on a high growth trajectory. However, with the absence of master trainers in such areas, the youth populations have been largely neglected and untapped. CEED Academy makes a major change by virtualizing master trainers in urban areas and making them available in remote areas. This is how we can transform this country,"said Aravind Sitaraman, president, Inclusive Growth, Cisco.

Anil Sahasrabuddhe, director, College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP), said, "Cisco's vision of helping the youth through skills development training is in line with the government's vision to improve the employability through agencies like NSDC and initiatives like CLICK. It can now become the catalyst and nodal knowledge centre to spread its capabilities to other colleges in the neighborhood."

The CEED Academy will use this platform to teach courses approved by the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) and its various sector skills councils, especially in the IT and telecom sectors.
