Leo Group Company Limited, a public-listed company from China, was planning to set up a water pump-set manufacturing plant in Hyderabad.

A specialist in irrigation and water projects, Leo would set up this plant in joint venture with German business conglomerate Voith, according to a statement issued by the Telangana government.

On Thursday the company officials have met with state IT and Panchayatraj minister K T Rama Rao and expressed their desire to look at investments in areas including research and IT in addition to their immediate plans with regard to the pump-set manufacturing project.

"The company officials informed the minister that they would start the work on the manufacturing facility, which is expected to create direct jobs for 2,000 people, by the year 2016. The company is also partner with the government to share its technical know-how in building the irrigation projects," the statement said.

Earlier in the day, UK-based education services company Ledmac Limited has signed an MoU with T-Hub, a government promoted start up incubation centre, to offer the best of international incubation services to startups in the city.
