Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company haS registered record power production in the financial year 2010-11. The plants run by the company produced 13875.776 Million Units (MUs) of power of during the fiscal, ending 31 March. The plant load factor (PLF) was 88.99 per cent, which is higher than the national average.
Managing Director of the company, VK Shrivastava, said that the power production and PLF in state-run plants have set a record, as never before, these figures were reached. Compared to last year's figure, the production was higher by 583.244 MUs, he added.
The Korba West unit of the company produced 6696.300 MUs of power during the year while the newly commissioned Shyama Prasad Mukherjee thermal power station (DSPMTPS) produced 4240.034 MUs.
The consumption of oil in the plants was also brought down during the period. According to Shrivastava, the oil consumption, in plants, was 1.067 millilitre per Kilowatt in 2009-10. It was reduced to 0.682 millilitre per Kilowatt in 2010-11, Shrivastava added.
The state-run power company had aimed to enhance power production in the coming years. The total installed capacity of company's power stations at present is 1924 Mw. In 2012, it is likely to go up to 3424 Mw.
Chhattisgarh government has set a target to add 1500 Mw to its total installed capacity by the end of 11th five year plan (2007-12) with the commissioning of 1000 Mw Marwa power project and third 500 Mw unit in Korba West power station.
