Murugappa Group firm Caborundum Universal Ltd has posted a net profit from ordinary activities after tax of Rs 26.16 crore during the quarter ended March 31, 2014, as against Rs 8.92 crore posted during the corresponding quarter of previous year, marking a 193% growth.
The total income from operations stood at Rs 536.37 crore for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2013-14, compared to Rs 490.97 crore registered during the same period of last financial year, an increase of 9.3%.
While the Electro minierals division of the company showed a better performance and abrasives division also registered growth, ceramics segment showed a de grew in sales due to postponement of projects in domestic market during most parts of the year, said the company. The company, at consolidated level, spent Rs. 94 cr on capital expenditure in the year 2013-14, it added.
