CURA Healthcare acquires Tuscano Equipments

Tuscano is one of the few Indian R&D labs with DSIR certified lab

CURA Healthcare Pvt Ltd, focused on the Diagnostic imaging space, has announced the acquisition of Tuscano Equipments Pvt Ltd, a company engaged in applied research to help in the development of affordable medical devices and solutions. The value of the deal was not disclosed and M Balasubramaniam, chief executive officer, CURA Healthcare Pvt. Ltd did not respond to the queries.

In a statement, he said that Tuscano is an apt fit for CURA Healthcare, and that it is one of the few Indian R&D labs with DSIR certification. Besides, it is also ISO 13485 certified.

Tuscano also brings a team of R&D engineers with experience in hardware and software and medical devices.

"Tuscano, with its vast experience, will be able to add substantial value in CURA's journey towards becoming a global player in the medical equipment and instrument segments," Balasubramaniam said.

CURA today offers a slew of patented medical equipment to address the domestic market. The company will soon be one of the few Indian firms with capabilities to manufacture Imaging equipments like Digital Radiography Systems.

Besides this, CURA plans to manufacture top of the line Mobile Computer Radiography Systems which offer high quality X-ray at the bed side of patients.

This equipment is expected to aid in penetrating Tier-2 & 3 markets affected by infrastructural challenges such as irregular power supply.

Kannan Neelakanta, Managing Director & Member - Management Team, Tuscano Equipments Pvt. Ltd. said that the company has a presence across key medical technology segments, and offers a portfolio of products across India and beyond.

This sector is still at a very nascent stage in our and is majorly dominated by imports.

"We strongly believe that India will follow the same path as other emerging markets wherein large, indigenous manufacturers of medical equipment have emerged over the past decade. CURA is today well positioned to capitalize on this trend with its robust and unparalleled distribution and service infrastructure," said Neelakanta.
