Chennai-based car maker, Ford has opened the first of its 20 new dealerships to be added this year. The company's India president and managing director, Arvind Mathew, inaugurated the 3-S [showroom, sales and service] dealership, Planet Ford in Kolhapur, Maharashtra.''We are entering a new phase of development and growth in India. With the infusion of $500 million in India, Ford is looking at several opportunities including introduction of a new small car and setting up an engine manufacturing facility", Mathew said.Ford India recently announced its comprehensive and growth strategy with infusion of additional $500 million by Ford Motor Company to expand its India operations over the next couple of years.
