FY10 cement prodn up 12.37% at 160.3mt

Cement production grew by 12.37 per cent in 2009-10 to 160.31 million tonne as against 142.65 million tonne in the previous fiscal.

Cement sales were up by 12 per cent to 159.43 million tonne during the reporting period compared to 142.23 million tonne in 2008-09, the Cement Manufacturers' Association said today.

Production and sales of cement in March increased by 9 per cent and 9.27 per cent, respectively over the same month last year.
