Tata Group's Gateway Hotels today said it will develop a 200-room hotel in central Mumbai along with Sunshine Housing, taking its overall portfolio to 34 hotels across the country.

Gateway Hotels signed its second hotel in the city, which will be located in Bhandup and have 200 rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, a bar and banqueting facilities.

"Given Mumbai's dynamism and its importance as the commercial hub, we feel there is immense potential for more Gateway Hotels in the city. We are happy to partner Sunshine Housing for this new 200-room property," Gateway Hotels Chief Operating Officer P K Mohankumar said in a press release.

The brand recently launched hotels in Jodhpur and Ahmedabad and announced a new project in Shirdi.

Gateway Hotels is present across a range of important business and leisure destinations such as Bangalore, Agra, Varanasi, Ahmedabad, Surat, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Madurai, Coonoor, Chikmagalur, Calicut and Cochin.

"We launched the Gateway Hotels brand in September 2008 with a portfolio of 26 hotels. Despite being challenged with a difficult year, the brand added one hotel every two months. The brand has received good response from all quarters with good financial performance and strong guest satisfaction and referral scores," Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces Sales & Marketing Senior Vice President Ajoy Misra said.
