The recall affects Cruze vehicles manufactured in model years 2009-11. The Delhi-based company did not specify the number of units it is recalling. In December last year 101,597 units of its Chevrolet Beat diesel were recalled by the company to replace a faulty clutch pedal lever.
The inspection and recommended repairs or replacement are estimated to take no more than one hour and affected Chevrolet Cruze customers will be asked to take their vehicles to their nearest Chevrolet service dealership for inspection with a prior appointment, a statement from General Motors said.
“If we foresee a potential issue, we ensure that it is corrected as soon as possible, as part of our complete commitment to customer satisfaction. This is a voluntary recall and, as far as we are aware, does not affect the safety of the vehicle but we want to make sure that our customers experience the right performance from their vehicles”, said Markus Sternberg, vice-president – aftersales, General Motors India.
The company is working closely with its service network to make the entire inspection and correction exercise as smooth as possible with an option of pick up and drop to a residential address. Customers are also requested to contact their nearest Chevrolet dealership and schedule an appointment for vehicle inspection and correction. The affected vehicles will be repaired free of charge at all GMI service centres across the country.
