The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Friday approved a proposal to allot 50 acre land to Genpact India Private Limited, the BPO arm of GE, for building new facilities that can accommodate about 5,000 people in Hyderabad.

Disclosing this after a Cabinet meeting, state information & public relations minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy said the company had approached the government for the land to facilitate new operations proposed for the city.

According to him, the company would invest about Rs 100 crore in building infrastructure facilities on this land.

The company would get the land at the rate of Rs 50 lakh per acre at Jawahar Nagar, nearer to its existing facilities. Currently Genpact's Hyderabad operations involve 8,000 professionals. It reported a turnover of Rs 700 crore, according to him.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet has also approved the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh's plans for setting up a 15-storied sports hostel building with an estimated cost of Rs 72 crore at Gachibowli sports complex for housing the participants of the 4th Military World Games scheduled to be held from October 14-21, 2007, at Hyderabad.
