GMR Infra, Adani Group, and Reliance Infra are among the 19 companies in the technical bidding process for developing the ~16,000-crore Noida International Greenfield Airport project at Jewar in Greater Noida.

The Yogi Adityanath government is targeting to complete technical bidding by November 6; this will be followed by the financial bidding process. “We aim to complete the entire bidding process by February-March 2020,” Shrikant Sharma, UP Cabinet minister and state government spokesperson, told reporters in Lucknow on Tuesday.

He said the government is aiming for the commercial opening of the first runway by 2023.

Earlier, the state Cabinet approved the amended bidding document aimed at providing more amenities to passengers availing of the services of the proposed airport. This airport will likely decongest Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is the project consultant.

The Cabinet okayed the amended bidding and draft concessionaire documents by putting its seal to the proposal of the state project monitoring and implementation group. Besides, the Cabinet authorised the chief minister to take further decisions on the airport project.

In May 2019, the Cabinet had approved the proposal to float global tender for the project, apart from the disbursal of ~895 crore towards rehabilitation and resettlement of the affected private landowners.
