The Noida International Airport (NIA), being developed as a greenfield aviation hub in Jewar, Gautam Buddh Nagar, is on track to begin operations by the end of this year. Union Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu recently told reporters that the airport would be inaugurated on October 30 and flight operations begin within next 45 days with 10 routes. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also reiterated the airport's commercial flight operations to commence by 2025 end. Billed to be India's largest airport upon full development before 2050, the project -- which started in 2019 and saw COVID-19 pandemic too -- was initially scheduled to launch operations in September 2024. The airport, which is being developed in four phases, has completed key aeronautical infrastructure for Phase 1, including one runway and one passenger terminal with an annual capacity to handle 12 million passengers. Technical installations and finishing works inside the terminal are underway, wh

Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Friday said it has completed airspace design and flight procedures for the two upcoming airports in Navi Mumbai and Noida. Both the Navi Mumbai International Airport and Noida International Airports at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh are scheduled to become operational from April this year. Airports Authority of India said the completion of the airspace design and flight procedures underscores AAI's expertise in managing complex airspace configurations, especially for airports situated near some of the busiest aviation hubs in the country. This will help in enhancing operational efficiency at these new airports, paving the way for future growth in one of the world's most dynamic aviation markets, it said. AAI, which provides air navigation services to the airports pan-India, will be managing these services at the two facilities. These procedures are designed to optimise flight efficiency, with significantly reducing emissions, track miles, and flight ti

With a maiden turboprop aircraft flight, the Noida International Airport this week started calibrating the ground-based radio navigation system at the greenfield facility. The airport, which is scheduled to start commercial operations by the end of this year, is located at Jewar, around 75 km from Delhi. "A bright and sunny day at #NIAirport set the perfect stage for a DVOR calibration flight, the first of many. The Beechcraft King Air B300 took to the skies, to ensure all @aai_official navigation equipment works flawlessly. #FromTheGroundUp," the airport posted on X on Thursday. A calibration flight is an aviation operation conducted to verify and fine-tune the accuracy of navigation equipment used at airports, according to officials. During a calibration flight, specialized aircraft equipped with precise measurement instruments fly predefined patterns around the airport's airspace. These instruments collect data on the performance of various navigation aids, such as instrument .
Noida International Airport on Tuesday said Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd will lay a 35-km dedicated aviation turbine fuel (ATF) pipeline from its Piyala Terminal to the tank farm at the airport in Jewar. The airport and the BPCL have entered into an agreement, signed on February 20, for the work to efficiently meet the airport's ATF demand while reducing carbon emissions, it said in a statement. BPCL's Piyala terminal is located in Faridabad, Haryana. The dedicated ATF pipeline will span over 34 km, and will further extend by 1.2 km within the airport premises, Noida International Airport said. "Once operational, this pipeline will operate on a common/contract carrier basis, ensuring seamless fuel transportation to the airport," it said. "Aligned with Noida International Airport's commitment to environmental stewardship, this common-use fuel transportation pipeline will ease fuel receipt operations and mitigate emissions by eliminating the need for tank lorry movements," it ..
