The Godrej Security Equipment division (GSED), part of the $2.1 billion Godrej Group and a unit of Godrej and Boyce, is eyeing installation of 500 security surveillance cameras around Bangalore.
“The company has made a detailed presentation to the police department about the demand and the need for installing such security surveillance cameras in the city,” said D E Byramjee, vice president and business head, Godrej Security Equipment division.
“The cost of the project is being worked out and will be known only when the police department calls for the tender,” he added.
GSED, as part of institutional installation, has provided three security products — tyre killers, under vehicle surveillance, boom barriers — to be installed around Vidhana Soudha, as part of its mandate to secure key government offices.
The company is among the largest manufacturers of security equipment in the country and has a good share of the domestic market. The market in India is fragmented with companies offering piecemeal solutions is estimated to be around Rs 7,000 - 8,000 crore.
The company is aiming for Rs 400 crore in revenues in FY 2008-09 as against Rs 300 crore it registered last year and has set a target to achieve Rs 1,000 crore by 2012-13 by focussing on personal home security and public institutions.
To give a boost to institutional installations, the company has embarked on a strategy to give special focus to providing comprehensive security solutions on turnkey basis, said Byramjee.
According to S P Sarma, regional manager, GSED, Godrej and Boyce, “The company, since the beginning of the financial year, has bagged major security surveillance orders from ISRO for its campus at Guindy and to the Nuclear Power Corporation Ltd (NPCL) for securing Kalpakkam.”
