The union government has already approved nine UMPPs out of which three - Mundra, Sasan and Krishnapattanam- are under execution.
Sushilkumar Shinde, the union power minister today informed that these states have sent their renewed requests to the ministry. Shinde added that a total of thirteen UMPPs are expected to be commissioned in the eleventh plan period.
Speaking on gas allocation, he said that the group of ministers (GoM) in its recent meeting has approved higher allocation of gas for its power plants and that the ministry would receive quantities for additional allocation of gas for power plants that have become idle due to lack of gas, through an official communication soon.
