According to a recent study by the state's industries department, Gujarat companies have posted profits as high as 50% in 2007-08 fiscal as compared to previous year.
The study took into account a sample covering information of 83 companies having sales turn over of Rs 10 crore and above, listed from news papers advertisement on annual results.
In all, there are about 800 large units in Gujarat having sales turnover of over Rs. 10 crore per annum.
The sample covers about 10 per cent of total large companies in Gujarat representing different sectors.

The 83 companies together had sales turnover of Rs 2,52,860 crores during 2007-08 up by 24.1% from Rs. 2,03,700 crore observed in 2006-07.
The profit of all these companies put together is is Rs 29,060 crore up by 51.1% in 2007-08 from Rs. 19,232 crore in 2006-07.
