Gujarat Gas Limited has reduced natural gas price from Rs 31.79 per SCM to Rs 29 per SCM. For quite some time, Morbi-based ceramic players were facing slowdown and had sought reduction in price of natural gas for a level playing field in global competition.
On price cut, Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel said, "Natural gas rate cut will help ceramic industry of Morbi to compete with China, which is the main competitor in the global market." Morbi alone produces over 70 per cent of ceramic tiles of the total tiles production in India and the rate cut will surely boost their business in future, said Patel.
