Gujarat State Petroluem Corporation (GSPC) has found proven gas reserves of 10.8 trillion cubic feet (TCF) in 11 of the 15 wells drilled in the Deendayal block of the KG basin, said Gujarat government in the Assembly today.
GSPC, a Gujarat government company, has drilled 15 wells in the block having an area of 1,850 sq km, of which three wells have failed while testing is yet to be done in one well. Remaining 11 wells have given sucessful results. Minister of State for Energy and Petrochemicals Saurabh Patel told this during question answer session in the state Assembly today.
Patel said that the GSPC has submited a block development plan (BDP) of the Deendayal block, to the Director General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) and after getting approval from the DGH, gas will be brought to Gujarat in two-and-a-half years.
However, DGH has so far certified 1.3 tcf gas in the Dean Dayal block.
When asked about the investment so far made in the entire exploration activities in the block, he said that so far Rs 3,778 crore has been invested and futher investment of Rs 5,000 to Rs 7000 crore will be made to develop the block and get the fuel here in the state.
He added that the GSPC has tied up with RIL Infrastructure to bring the gas to Gujarat using their pipeline network.
Moreover, he said that the GSPC has written to the Central government for allowing GSPC to distribute gas to be produced from the Deendayal block, on its own so that it can be allocated to small and medium scale industries in the state.
Patel added that once the production begins at the block, the state will get gas worth Rs 10 crore for 30 years.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Narendra Modi suggested that all MLAs of the state should visit the Deendayal block, in Andhra Pradesh, in batches so that they know the fields.
