Chinese consumer durable maker Haier today said it is aiming to sell over one million refrigerators in the country next year, as a part of its plan to double its turnover in 2011.
"Refrigerators contribute around 30 per cent to our total sales in the country. As we aim to double our turnover next year we hope to sell more than one million refrigerators in 2011," Haier India President Eric Braganza told reporters.
Haier India reported a revenue of Rs 350 crore in 2008. However, as the sales picked up this year, the company has already crossed Rs 350 crore mark and is now expected to close the fiscal with a turnover of Rs 900-950 crore.
"Seeing the overwhelming response for our products in the country, we are now increasing the production capacity at our Pune plants by adding two new manufacturing lines with an investment of Rs 100 crore," Braganza said while adding that the company is eyeing to double its turnover next year.
The company also announced the launch of five new products including LED TV and kitchen appliances.
Haier also said that it has roped in Bollywood actor John Abraham as its brand ambassador in the country.
Besides this, the company is also expanding its sales and distribution network.
