Halcon, a joint working group between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Container Corporation of India Ltd (Concor) along with the terminal operator Clarion Solutions on Tuesday announced the commencement of air cargo services at Ojhar airport, Nasik.

The company has invested nearly Rs 70 crore to upgrade the existing infrastructure. Commenting on the commencement, Ganesh Krishnan, CEO, Clarion Solutions said, "Ojhar airport going operational for air cargo services will act as a cost effective and single window clearance facility for the importers and exporters community across various industry segments in Maharashtra. It will also help in de-congesting the existing air cargo complexes that are presently struggling for the desired space in and around the state."

The facility at Ojhar airport comprises of an air cargo complex, warehousing, integrated packing center for perishables, cold storage, screening, comprehensive ground handling services for airlines, CCTV surveillance, bar-coding, labelling and customs' linkage.

"The Ojhar airport is specifically operational for air cargo services that will help to reduce the traffic at Mumbai airport and currently offers both air cargo and passenger services. It will boost EXIM trade, as exporters of vegetables, flowers, fruits, automobile, pharma, engineering products, FMCG's can directly do it from Nasik instead of going to Mumbai for exports," said P V Deshmukh, MD (MIG), Hindustan Aeronautics.
