While stating this here on Monday, an official spokesman said the need of IT professionals is felt to create a proper system and better execution of e-Governance. For this purpose, IT cadre rules have already been prepared by the IT department and the matter is under consideration. It is expected to commence recruitment for the same during the current year. He said the department has already taken steps for positioning a State e-Mission Team. These resources are being used to support e-Governance initiatives in various departments, he added.
He said that various mission mode projects under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), namely smart card-based public distribution system of food and supplies department, computerisation of commercial taxes of excise and taxation department, health department, transport department, revenue department, panchayat and treasuries and integrated financial management systems of the finance department are at different stages of implementation.
Besides this, 153 websites have also been launched in the state. The new cadre would cater to the demand of IT professionals in the concerned departments, he added.
He said to utilise the core infrastructure like state wide area network, state data center and common service centers (CSC), implementation of a new project namely, state service delivery gateway at an estimated cost of Rs 10.92 crore is also under process. He said about 800 CSCs would be re-activated and the e-Panchayat project is also proposed to be implemented through this network.
He said that for delivery of the whole range of citizen-centric services, relating both government and private sector, rural and urban information and communication technology-based CSCs are being planned to be set up in the state, which would be extended at the panchayat level.
A special drive has been launched for delivery of citizen services across various government departments using IT tools.
It has been planned to deliver between 70-80 services in electronic mode by all departments by the end of 2013-14. He said that presently, this project has been launched on pilot basis at some locations of Ambala and Panchkula districts.
