IT firm HCL Technologies today said it has bagged an infrastructure management services contract from Norway-based Statoil.
The deal size and tenure of the contract were not disclosed.
Statoil is the largest supplier of gas from the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) and its biggest activities are located in Norway, with corporate functions located at Stavanger and Oslo.
Its onshore facilities in Norway are active within areas like gas treatment, crude oil reception, refinement and methanol production.
HCL will deliver services across 36 countries handling end-to-end monitoring and management of all of Statoil's IT infrastructure across all global locations, including offshore production sites, HCL Technologies said in a statement.
The engagement includes management of computing, storage, database and telecom (network and security) environments, besides desktop support, it added.
HCL Technologies will open a delivery centre in Stavanger, Norway, to service Statoil, in line with its model of Global Centres of Excellence.
"For large global enterprises, HCL is increasingly seen as a strategic IT partner with the ability to scale globally distributed IT operations in a non-linear fashion while gaining flexibility and operational rigour," HCL Technologies President (Infrastructure Services) and Senior Corporate Vice-President Anant Gupta said.
In the energy and utilities industry, HCL works with Global 500 companies to optimise their upstream, midstream and downstream operations using innovative IT solutions.
The company already supports several global corporations in the Nordic region, including Nokia, Danfoss and Electrolux.
