Hero Motocorp, India's biggest two-wheeler manufacturer reported 0.58 growth in sales of two-wheelers last month while rivals Bajaj auto posted 6% decline during the same month.

Hero clocked total sales of 504,181 units last month as against 501,271 units sold in the same month last year. The company has been consistently selling more than 500,000 units every month since the past several months.

Anil Dua, Senior Vice President (Marketing & Sales), Hero MotoCorp, said "There has been an excise duty cut in the month of February and we have passed on the benefit to our customers. We are hopeful that this price cut will give a fillip to the industry and further boost demand of our products."

The Delhi-based company plans four launches in the market this month - the newer versions of Pleasure, Xtreme, Karizma and ZMR.

Pune-based Bajaj Auto, India's second largest two-wheeler producer, reported six% drop last month clocking total sales of 273,323 units as against 291,297 units sold same month previous year.

Yamaha Motor India posted 33% rise sales during the reporting month at 42,548 as compared to 32,097 units sold in the corresponding month last year. The uptick in sales was majorly due to the launch of a new family scooter Alpha.

Roy Kurian, Vice President - Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales, said, "This month has been very good for us with a lot of positive developments happening in the industry as well as at the company's front. We launched our latest family oriented 113 cc automatic scooter Aplha at the Auto Expo this time. The FM's announcement on the excise duty cut was another highlight last month which is expected to give the auto industry the much needed push in the coming months."
