For the first time in India, Hester Biosciences Limited has launched a poultry vaccine against Coryza disease in chicken, containing three serotypes namely A, B and C. So far, companies have manufactured vaccine with only A and C strains.
Coryza disease is of economica importance to poultry farmers as it causes a drop in egg production in laying birds. Currently, the market for Coryza vaccine is approximately Rs 80 million and 50 per cent of the vaccine demand in the country is fulfilled through imports.
Offering an import substitute for the vaccine, Hester strives to penetrate into the market. Currently, the company manufactures 39 types of poultry vaccines against various poultry diseases.
