Hyundai Motor India, the second largest passenger car maker, increased prices across its product line today attributing it to changes in the On Board Diagnostic Compliance (OBD). The maker of popular hatchback i10 and sedan Verna said that the increase in prices range from Rs 575 to Rs 2,830.

“We have tried to absorb the maximum cost to minimize the price increase to cause less inconvenience to our valued customers,” said Rakesh Srivastava, vice president, sales and marketing at the company in a press statement.

OBD is the system that helps to diagnose and report a problem in a vehicle. Entry level hatchbacks Eon and Santro have had the maximum impact with an increase of respectively Rs 2500 and Rs 2830. The Indian subsidiary of the Korean auto giant has a manufacturing plant near Chennai and it is the largest auto exporter from India.
