The India Semiconductor Association (ISA), the trade body representing the Indian semiconductor industry, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Asia Semiconductor Trading Support Association (ASTSA).

The MoU focuses on developing business ties and exchanges between companies in the semiconductor design sector in India and Japan, an ISA statement said.

"The Indian economy will still register a growth this year in spite of a global slowdown. The semiconductor business in India is also expected to grow. This relationship will facilitate the growth of Indian companies with the embedded software belt in Japan.

ASTSA and ISA have agreed to sign the MoU first time between Indian and Japanese semiconductor associations", said Hajime Tomokage, President, Asia Semiconductor Trading Support Association.

"Our key objective through this MoU is to foster business relationships among our member companies" said Poornima Shenoy, President, India  Semiconductor Association.

This project is supported by Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) and Fukuoka City Government in the framework of JETRO's Regional Industry Tie-up programme (RIT).
