Two-wheeler maker India Yamaha Motor today reported a 39.66% increase in total sales to 39,940 units during January, 2012.
The company sold 28,597 units in the same month last year, India Yamaha Motor said in a statement.
In the domestic market, the company's sales stood at 26,300 units during the month under review, as against 21,974 units in the same month last year, translating into a 19.69% increase.
Exports of India Yamaha rose over two-fold to 13,640 units during the month from 6,623 units in the year-ago period, it added.
"We are very happy with the growth registered in January and plan to keep the momentum high for the rest of 2012," India Yamaha Motor Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Hiroyuki Suzuki said.
The company attributed the growth to the success of flagship models such as the R15, FZ and SZ series, he added.
