The Ministry of Commerce, People’s Republic of China has named Infosys in its list of the 100 Key Liaison Service Outsourcing Companies. Infosys, the only company headquartered in India that has received this recognition, was included in the list due to strong growth in China.
Service outsourcing has been identified as a key industry to be developed in China. The Ministry of Commerce is the designated governing body for this industry. There are 21 Service Outsourcing Base cities in China and these cities currently enjoy government support to foster talent development, design business friendly tax structures and foster a positive environment to encourage service providers to set up shop in China.
China’s service outsourcing industry has been growing at a rapid pace for the last couple of years. The total number of outsourcing companies increased from 12,706 in 2010 to 16,939 in 2011. The total offshore service value increased by 65%, over the value in 2010, to $23.8 billion in 2011.
Infosys China has operations across Shanghai, Beijing, Dalian, Hangzhou and Jiaxing and has more than 3,300 employees. The company offers its entire range of services to both well-established local enterprises as well as leading multinational companies operating in China.
Infosys also houses development/delivery centres in China, to support the needs of clients globally as well. A new DC with a capacity to accommodate around 10,000 employees is currently under construction in Minghang, Shanghai. This will help Infosys to further strengthen its delivery capabilities in China, and also demonstrates Infosys’ strong commitment to the fast growing Chinese market.
