Infosys today said it plans to double headcount at its product research and development (R&D) team to 1,000 in the next two years to accelerate design and development of solutions.
The team is responsible for developing products and platforms, leveraging technologies in the areas of cloud computing, mobility, analytics, and social media.
"The focus of Infosys 3.0 strategy is on creation of innovative products leveraging technologies like cloud computing, mobility, analytics, and social media. A competent team is a core requirement and therefore we are looking at expanding the present team of 500 engineers to 1,000 over the next two years," Infosys Senior Vice President and Head of Infosys Labs and Product R&D Subu Goparaju said.
He added that a majority of these people would be based out of Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune centres. The addition would be a mix of lateral and fresh hires.
"Innovations in social media, cloud, mobility and Big Data are opening new doors for businesses globally. The R&D team creates products and platforms that harness these opportunities and deliver long term competitive advantages to our clients," Goparaju said.
Some of the products developed by the division includes Supply Chain Performance Management Suite, Distributor Connect and Omni-Channel Personalisation Engine.
Supply Chain Performance Management Suite is an advanced analytical product suite that provides a single enterprise wide view of the supply and demand chain performance helping collaborative decision-making and logistics and inventory management.
Distributor Connect, on the other hand, allows exchange and harmonising raw data using advanced business logic and algorithms.
