Isuzu Motors earmarks Rs 3,000 crore for India

Launches 1st Made-in-India SUV

Japanese auto major Isuzu Motors said that it has earmarked a total investment of Rs 3,000 crore to set up a new plant at Sri City. The new plant will have a capacity of one lakh to two lakh units once fully operational.
 
The company today launched its first locally produced utility vehicle MU-7, a sports utility vehicle (SUV)
 
The diesel-engine vehicles is one of the longest SUVs available in India with a 3-metre wheel base makes.

The company is planning to increase its network to 60 outlets end of 2015-16.
 
Takashi Kikuchi, MD & President, Isuzu Motors India said the company has a contract manufacturing with Hindustan Motors under which is HML is contract assembling CKD units of Isuzu's sports utility vehicle MU7, pick up truck and D-Max at HML's plant at Thiruvallur.
 
He added, India is a key region in Isuzu's global growth strategy for its emerging markets and as an important manufacturing hub in the future.
 
In the next five years the focus will be to accelerate our business and establish Isuzu as an important player in the pickup trucks and utility vehicles market in India.
