JCB India launches premium segment tracked excavator

The new product will be a game changer for company and the most fuel efficient product of its portfolio

Construction Equipment manufacturer JCB today launched 20 tonne JS205LC tracked excavator which is developed and manufactured in India for the Indian market.

According to JCB, this product will be a largest game changer for the company and the most fuel efficient product of its portfolio.

With this, JCB is eying overseas markets like Middle East, West Asia and South East Asia.

The vehicle is being manufactured at JCB's Talegaon Plant in Pune. The JS205LC is all set to create a new benchmark in the premium Excavator segment in India. Low fuel consumption in excavation results in fuel savings worth Rs  1.3 lakh per year.

Commenting on this, Vipin Sondhi, CMD, JCB India said, "The new 20 tonne Excavator offers best fuel efficiency, coupled with better performance and productivity. Our aim is to innovate and design products that meet our customers’ needs and helps them in growing their business. Apart form north and south India regions, we have seen significant growth in east India. As a result, the company plans to set up a warehousing facility in Guwahati shortly to cater to the demand from the Northeast. "

Speaking about overall market growth, Sodhi said, " Considering the slowdown in recent years, the market for construction equipment manufacturing industry is observing de-growth of 12 to 15 per cent and It will remain flat by end of next year as well. However, domestic market is our bread and butter and we are committed to manufacturing products here. But since we have a world class manufacturing hub here, we would use for exports as well. The company has sold 26,000 units last fiscal, which included 1,000 units in exports to East Africa, West Asia and Southeast Asia. "

The company has three manufacturing facilities, two in Talegaon near Pune and one in Ballabgarh in Haryana with a combined installed capacity of 30,000 units per annum. The company has planned an investment of Rs  500 cr over the next five years at Jaipur.
