- Compensation in case of accident or injuries is paid in accordance with The Carriage by Air Act
- In case of international flights, an airline is liable to pay an amount equivalent to 113,100 Special Drawing Rights (SDRs). This is an International Monetary Fund Unit
- The value of SDR is based on basket of five currencies. At current conversion rate, it works to around Rs 11 million.
- Government proposed a parity in compensation for deaths and injuries in domestic and international flights
- Airlines resist the move, government yet to revise norms
