JSPL, local admin join hands to improve healthcare in Odisha

JSPL has contributed Rs 9 lakh to the District Red Cross Society for strengthening the Government health care in Chhendipada block

In an effort to strengthen healthcare for local community in Odisha, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) has extended support to the district administration of Angul.

JSPL has contributed Rs 9 lakh to the District Red Cross Society for bridging the gap and strengthening the Government health care in Chhendipada block, a company release said.

A cheque for the amount was given to Chief District Medical Officer of Angul, Chittaranjan Nayak, by Suresh Chandra Padhi, Vice-President (Land Acquisition) of JSPL.

The amount will be utilised for engagement of one doctor in Chhendipada CHC and for supplementing the support for running the mobile medical unit by the district administration in Chhendipada block for one year.

Dinesh Kumar Saraogi, Executive Director of JSPL said: "This is an effort by JSPL for strengthening the quality of primary health care delivery. Engagement of doctor and the mobile health unit will help in better access to healthcare for people of Chhendipada".

For last two years, JSPL in partnership with the administration has been operating customised medical vans called 'Kishori Express' equipped with the facility of haemoglobin test, iron tablet supplement, life skill Quiz on a touch screen etc in two blocks Chhendipada and Banarpal with the objective of controlling adolescent anemia in girls.

More than 21,000 girls have been covered under this programme. The company has supported in addressing the Dengue incident, improving the blood availability in Red Cross Blood Bank, and providing ambulance services at Nisha and Handapa Police station for shifting of accident victims.
