Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Energy today posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 273.03 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2010.
The company had a net profit of Rs 23.80 crore during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
"The operating result for the quarter/current year are in respect of (our) 2x130 MW thermal power plant and 2x300 MW thermal power plant, both located at Toranagallu, Karnataka, and 1x135 MW thermal power plant located at Barmer, Rajasthan.
"The figure for the corresponding period in the previous year was only for the 2x130 MW thermal power plant and hence not comparable," JSW Energy said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The company reported a total income of Rs 789.93 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, as compared to Rs 479.10 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
For the year ended March, 2010, the company posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 745.49 crore, while the same stood at Rs 276.69 crore in the last fiscal.
The company reported a total income of Rs 2,355.09 crore for the year ended March, 2010, while the same was Rs 1,835.02 crore in the previous fiscal.
On a standalone basis, the company reported a net profit of Rs 315.03 crore for the quarter ended March 31, while the same stood at Rs 112.36 crore during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
The company has recommended a dividend of 7.5 per cent or Rs 0.75 per share for the year ended March 31, 2010.
Shares of JSW Energy today closed at Rs 117.50 on the BSE, down 1.38 per cent from the previous close.
