Swamy will report to the managing director and president of Volkswagen India Jorg Muller, who is also the company's group regional representative for India.
Swamy has nearly three decades of experience in Indian industry. In his capacity as Deputy Managing Director, Swamy played a significant role in establishing and managing Toyota Kirloskar Motor since 1997. He was instrumental in successfully setting up the green field project as well as efficient supplier and sales networks, a release sent from Volkswagen stated.
Following managerial functions at major engineering companies, he assumed senior management duties at one of the core companies of the Kirloskar Group. In 1993 he was promoted to corporate V-P and was responsible for overall finance and business development. He played a key role in the formation of several joint ventures for the Kirloskar Group.
