L&T Infotech, Infineon ink SAP contract

German semiconductor maker Infineon Technologies AG (IFX) today announced a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract with IT services and business solutions provider Larsen & Toubro Infotech Ltd (L&T Infotech).

As per the contract, L&T Infotech will operate, maintain and develop SAP solutions within Infineon's enterprise landscape and provide these services out of Germany, Singapore and India, a company release said.

L&T Infotech will leverage its long-standing experience in global SAP support, its technology capabilities and knowledge of semi-conductor and hi-tech industries to optimise Infineon's IT operations, enhance operational efficiency and support Infineon's IT technology roadmap, it said.

"L&T Infotech is strongly building its presence in Europe, and Germany in particular. We will help Infineon optimise their operations to achieve their business objectives of meeting the three central needs of the modern society — energy efficiency, communications and security," L&T Infotech Chief Executive Officer Sudip Banerjee said.

"Our sourcing strategy combines internal and external staffing as well as on-site and off-shore provision of services for the best fit of Infineon," Infineon Tech Chief Information Officer Michael Schmelmer said.
