Engineering giant Larsen & Toubro has reported order wins of over Rs 5300 crore in power generation, transmission and infrastructure works in India,  Bangladesh and Qatar.

In FY 13 the company bagged orders worth Rs 88,000 crore in FY 13 and gave 20 percent order inflow guidance for the current fiscal but cut the guidance to 15 percent during the year.

The orders announced today include $ 480 million (Rs 2880 crore) worth  EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) projects for setting up dual fuel-fired gas based combined cycle power plants in Bangladesh. This includes a $ 280 million order for setting up  a 360 MW Bheramara combined cycle power plant. Another order comprises of $ 200 million contract from Bangladesh Power Development Board for setting up a 225 MW Sikalbaha combined cycle power plant near the port city of Chittagong.

The other orders valued over Rs 800 were bagged by building and factories and transport divisions for projects in Kolkata.

"The two phases  which we are currently executing in Qatar are progressing well and this order, which has been won in the face of stiff global competition, reflects the growing confidence of L&T’s capability,” said S. N. Subrahmanyan, board member and senior executive vice president (Infrastructure and Construction). “It also reflects L&T’s operational competence and customer goodwill garnered in GCC countries,” he added

The company has been  increasing international reach to make up for the loss of business in India and has diversified in Middle East and South East Asia
